Meet Grace
Encouragement. Sometimes the words of kindness and support can be what makes all the difference when going through a difficult time. I can recall one of the most frightening, heartbreaking, and trying times that we ever endured was when our daughter was diagnosed with cancer. I have written a testimony about all that God did during that time and it is posted as "Surviving a Crisis."
I would like to introduce you to Grace. She is the beautiful doll that is pictured. She was given as a gift to my daughter while she was in the hospital shortly after her surgery. Grace is a reminder of just that - God's grace to us as well as a token of encouragement received when we needed it most. Grace is a porcelain doll that was made by the very special lady that gave her to my daughter.
In the letter that was given to my daughter along with Grace, Joy (the lady that gave my daughter the doll) told the story behind Grace. You see Joy had two daughters and one of them (the one with brown eyes) had somehow broken her mother's creation! After looking at the pieces of Grace, she realized that since she had made Grace to begin with, she could make her again. Joy went on to explain that just as she was able to fix the broken doll that she had made, God could fix my daughter's health. Wow! what a great example and picture she gave to us that day. I remember the tears of hope flowing down my eyes as I read her godly words of encouragement.
Jeremiah 18:6 says, "O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter‘s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel." We all have broken parts from time to time - whether it be our health, our attitudes, our spirits; and in every case we can go to our Heavenly Father and He can make us again.
I am thankful for the godly friend that gave us Grace - she was like Proverbs 27:9, "Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel." I am most thankful that indeed God healed my little girl, and has made me again each time some part of me has broken.
Have a wonderful day!
