My Story

This morning I was reading from the book of I Kings, beginning in chapter 10. In my reading I began to notice the same phrases repeated over and over. In fact in I and II Kings this same phrase is repeated 34 times! "Now the rest of the acts of (name of person)...are they not written, (or they are written)..." I began thinking about how that every person mentioned had their acts (or actions) recorded in writing. I began thinking about all those books and I was reminded of Revelations 20:12, "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." I was immediately thankful once again that my name is recorded in the Book of Life, especially after reading verse 15, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

In my prayer and devotion time today I was reminded of the fact that my life, my acts are writing the story of my life. What we do is being recorded. Every choice we make, our responses to what God wants us to do, what we do for God, what we do for ourselves - all of it is being recorded! What a scary truth!

But wait - stress not! We can ask God to blot out our iniquities, "Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities." Psalm 51:9. We also have the promise "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust." Psalm 103:12-14 Whew! that is GREAT news!

One day my life really will be an open book...I want to make sure that what is written is pleasing to the Lord so that I can hear the words, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." I know that I have sinned and there are things I have done for which I am ashamed, but I can ask for forgiveness and have them blotted out of my story that is recorded in the books; I can claim the promise that through Christ my transgressions have been removed. Today, I can plan what I hope will be written and avoid doing things that will make me ashamed. The prayer of my heart is singing...

This is my story, this is my song, praising my Saviour, all the day long!

Only those that have trusted the Lord as their personal Saviour have their names recorded in the Book of Life - so if you have not been born again, or if you're not sure - get that settled today. You can post a comment and I can email God's plan of Salvation to you. If you have been saved, today won't you join me in making the story of your life "praising" your Saviour all the day long?

Have a wonderful day.
