Fulfilled

It seems that so many Christians today want to all but discard the Old Testament.  When we practice a principle, or hold a standard based on verses from the Old Testament we hear, “oh, but that is the Old Testament.”  Yet, in the verses I have quoted below – we see that Jesus taught us that He did not come to destroy the law, but rather to fulfill it.  I believe that teaches us that the demands the law made in punishment were fulfilled when Jesus died on the cross.  However, I believe it also teaches us that while the punishment for breaking the law was paid, it does not mean that we don’t have to observe or obey the law.  As an example, in the law when a child disobeyed they were to be publicly punished, stoned to death.  Now, Jesus paid the death, but God still wants children to obey their parents.   God intends for us to use the Old Testament, because It testifies of Jesus.  The disciples used the Old Testament to preach the gospel and the world was turned upside down.  The law

SEEK

2015 was the first year I can remember that God gave me a verse to claim as my theme verse for the year.   Luke 1:38, “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. ”   With that He also gave me a word, “believe,” and a song – “I Believe God.”   Now, I am sure He gave me all of those to equip me as we have stepped out by faith leaving everyone and everything behind us to go on deputation as US Missionary Church Planters!   Over and over again throughout the year the Lord used His Word, His Song, and “Believe” to help and encourage me. Well, now it is 2016 – and I decided that I want a new word.  I spent several days praying about it and asking the Lord to give me a theme word for 2016.  His answer?  Seek!  I spent a good portion of the afternoon yesterday studying the meaning, the several (over 233) times it is used in the Bible, and exactly how and what we are to seek.  Wow!  It is amazing how this little wor

Are You One of the Nine?

This past year, and currently, we are on deputation as USA Church Planters.  The Lord has burdened our hearts to plant churches in areas where the gospel is not being preached.  This experience has allowed us to travel to over 90 different churches to present the ministry in 11 different states so far!  We are living differently than we ever have in that we have no home of our own, we are traveling constantly, and living out of suitcases! The great joy in all of this has been that we have been able to see God do so many miracles!  Miracles for us in answered prayer and provision, and miracles in the lives of others as we hear their testimonies and how God has worked in their lives. The title of this posting is, “Are You One of the Nine?”  Jesus asked this question in Luke 17:17, “ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine ? ”  You see, He had just cleansed 10 people, but only one came back to thank Him.  I pondered this question because we s
