See the Salvation of the Lord!

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.”  Exodus  14:13

Years ago, shortly after we became Christians, we found ourselves in a predicament.  My husband, a business man, had created a partnership with an unsaved man.  Shortly into the venture he realized that this was not a wise move.  The man, though inexperienced, refused to take heed to my husband’s concerns about the way he was handling the business even though my husband had been in his own business for several years.  To make things worse, my husband realized that he was unequally yoked and therefore doing something God warned against.  We began to pray and ask God to help us out of this situation.  We didn’t know how to get out of it but as we prayed we trusted God and waited for Him to remedy the situation.  It was amazing to us that within 2 weeks of our prayer the Lord worked to dissolve the partnership!

“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. “ 2Chronicles 20:17

2 Chronicles 20:17 has been a special verse to us because it was a very personal answer to prayer to us at a time that once again seemed frightfully impossible!  My husband, as a designer/builder, had done a project for a man that owned a commercial building where he leased offices to several businesses.  He hired my husband to do design work and drawings, and then kept making changes making the project take longer than originally planned.  When the man lost a client he decided to try to recover his financial loss by filing a lawsuit against my husband!  He was suing us for way more money than we could ever make!  According to the contract agreement, the lawsuit would be settled via arbitration.  The man’s case was compelling as the job did take longer than planned, and he did lose a client, but my husband kept impeccable records and chronicled every phone call and change order – still my husband’s own lawyer was skeptical!  My husband knew he did nothing wrong, yet, it was nerve racking, so you can imagine what a blessing it was to read this verse the day before the meeting with the arbitrator... especially the part of the verse that says, “...fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them; for the Lord will be with you.”  My husband drove up to the appointment confident in the Lord and His promise, and told his lawyer that he believed the case would go our way because of what He read in God's Word and because others were praying for him.  I am sure the lawyer thought my husband was crazy…until the verdict arrived a couple weeks later finding my husband not guilty of any wrong doing!  We prayed and then stood still waiting on God; we trusted the Lord (did not fear) and we saw the salvation of the Lord!

I firmly believe that God is able to fix ALL problems, that He is able to meet every need, and that He is the answer.  With that said, I have to admit, that not everyone’s problems get fixed, and certainly there are people that have needs, and not everybody has the answers to their questions or predicaments.   You may ask how I can believe what I do even though so many people don’t have the fix, need, or answer as I just stated.  The answer to that question, I believe, is found in the verses I quoted above.

  1.  Fear.  People are afraid when they do not trust God, and sadly are even afraid to trust God – so instead of standing still and waiting on God – they become anxious and get in God’s way trying to do or fix it themselves.
  2. Fight.  Sometimes we try to fight a battle that belongs to God and end up fighting against God Himself!   When we are not set on trusting God, we are unwilling to stand still – we want to fight, wage a battle, and then instead of allowing God to win the battle, we lose the fight.

In essence, we miss the privilege of seeing the salvation of the Lord when we do not believe God; when we don’t believe He is able, or that He will do what He says.  When we really believe, we live it, we practice it, we depend on it, and we do it!  Trust is established by relationship –so develop a relationship with Christ, trust in Him, and I wholeheartedly promise you that He will do what He has said He will do!  You will be able to see the salvation of the Lord now – today!

The salvation of our souls is of the Lord – He did the work when He shed His blood and died on the cross for our sins.  When Jesus said “it is finished” He meant it – the job was done!  We do not have do work to earn salvation, it is a free gift to us because “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

Eventually, everyone will see the salvation of the Lord our God – but I would rather see it by faith and experience now, than to realize too late that I had wasted my time fearing and fighting something when I could have had the victory.  We can have that victory by simply trusting the Lord, standing still, and waiting for Him to show me, lead me, and yes, even fight for me - remember that He even died for us so that we could have eternal life!  Everyone will see the salvation one day, but sadly not everyone will experience it!

“The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.”  Isaiah 52:10

“And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. “ Luke 3:6

It is my prayer that for you seeing the salvation of the Lord will be now rather than later.  When you fear not (because of your faith in God), stand still, and wait on God, when you believe Him and allow Him to fight the battles - you will see His salvation!

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:14-21

Have a wonderful day!
